As usual time seems to get the best of us and before we know it, the months are flying by.

We came to the U.S. in the end of September, 2009 after having lived in Cochabamba, Bolivia for over 7 years. The Lord was telling us that we needed to take a bit of a 'break' (aka: home assignment) and figure out what our next step would be. It was a difficult decision to make saying goodbye to many friends and ministries that we've worked with over the years and a bit of a transition as we made our way back to the states.

Micah & Zack began Middle School and Caleb entered into Elementary. The public school system is 'new' to us with so many more students than the boys were used too. It felt a bit overwhelming in the beginning but now they are beginning to find their place...little by little.

In the meanwhile, Gustavo felt the Lord was leading him to start a small English speaking church. We are using some space at a local Korean church...rent free. There is a tiny congregation of about 15-20 of us but we are trusting the Lord that He will send those He wants to be a part of us.

We are continuing to keep in touch with our ministries in Bolivia and will never forget the years we served. God is good. As we are here in the U.S., Gustavo is making new contacts and we're hoping to expand Operation Harvest through going to missions events and sharing to new church congregations.

Even though we're in the U.S., we are still living as missionaries and only receiving the financials gifts that are sent to us. Please remember to pray for us! The cost of living in the U.S. is so much higher than that of Bolivia. God Bless!

Michelle has just begun to work at a new children’s center here in Cochabamba. This Center is under the direction of a Bolivian Baptist church called Luz de Cristo (Light of Christ). The church receives funds from Compassion International to fund their program. Luz de Cristo works with almost 200 children each week.
There are many of these sites around the city and almost all the students attending are sponsored by families in the U.S. or another country. Michelle's role at Luz de Cristo will be two-fold. She will be an office and classroom assistant, as well as have the opportunity to do house visits.

House visits involves visiting the homes of the students of the site. She will learn to take reports of the child’s economic, social, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. These holistic needs are also addressed at the children’s center. Biblically based lessons and activities are held in order to help the children grow in all these areas.
Michelle is super excited because this ministry opportunity will allow her to learn more about children’s community development, as well as the administrative and technical side of child sponsorships.

The Alseth family has just joined Operation Harvest as of March 2010.  They are 'parents' to orphan children in the process of finding adoptive homes. Including their own, they have 12 kids! Here is a short exerpt about one of the children that is in their home.

Our Alejandra is a survivor! We know nothing of her past since she was left at the hospital at birth and it appears that her mother gave false data. What we do know is that she was born weighing only 2 lbs and stayed in the hospital for 7 weeks. At that point she arrived to the Baby Home weighing less than 4 lbs and was admitted to a nutrition center clinic until she weighed 6 lbs. Alejandra has stayed remarkably healthy for her tiny beginnings. However, she needs an extra lot of stimulation and therapy for her delays due to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (permanent brain damage because of alcohol and/or drug use by her mother while pregnant). She also uses 2 hearing aids for severe hearing loss diagnosed when she was 21 months old and is learning to speak and obey better now that she can hear!” –(Jennifer Thompson) She is a happy-go-lucky little toddler who is active and adventurous, she loves to listen to music, dance,  play with the family cat, and her favorite thing of all is having special time with Shekkinah, her most beloved member of the Alseth Family!

*Please pray for Alejandra’s speech skills to continue to progress, her behaviors to continue to improve, and for an adoptive family.
